Programs

Playground (Ages 3 - 4)

Our playground program is once per week on Saturday mornings.

This is a unique program designed to develop children by focusing on improving a child’s motor skills in a fun, parent participatory atmosphere utilizing age appropriate activities and adventures with a soccer theme.  It is a 6-week skills development program for players age 3 who would like to have fun.

This program was designed by child development and soccer experts to give your child a foundation for sports success.  Your player will hop, skip, jump, run, throw, balance, kick… and play.

Each player needs a parent or adult helper…. But, don’t worry you’ll have fun!

School Yard (Ages 4 & 5)

There are two scheduling options when signing up for the schoolyard program.  You can choose Saturday Mornings or Wednesday evenings.  Both programs run for 6 weeks.

This is a parent+child program for 4 year olds. In School Yard each child will have a parent (or other adult) with them on the field. The children continue to develop motor skills while introducing soccer skills like kicking and dribbling the ball, but in a low-pressure setting. School Yard is about exposing children to soccer, not grooming them for college scholarships.

Core Soccer Program (Ages 5-18)

8U (Birth Years 2013/2014)

Our 8U program is all about fun. Teams are small (typically 5-6 players) and they play 4 vs 4 with no goalkeepers. Smaller teams means more touches on the ball and more one on one time with our coaches. This is essential to player development. These teams are full of players who are playing soccer for the first time. 8U teams practice once a week and play games under the lights on Friday evenings. This division is not co-ed. We have separate girls and boys divisions.

10U (Birth Years 2011/2012)

The 10U program ramps up the development.  Teams play 7 vs 7 on medium sized fields.  Practices are twice per week.  10U boys have games on Friday evenings.  10U Girls have games on Saturday mornings.  All games for the boys and the girls are held at Anamax Park.

12U (Birth Years 2009/2010)

The 12U program continues to build on previous lessons.  Teams play 9 vs 9 on fields that are close to full size.  Practices are twice per week.  12U boys and 12U Girls have games on Saturday mid-mornings.  While most of the games will be at Anamax park, these teams will have the opportunity to travel and play other teams from Tucson and the surrounding areas.

14U (Birth Years 2007/2008)

In 14U teams play 11 vs 11 on full sized fields.  Practices are twice per week.  This division is coed.  14U teams have their games on Saturdays.  While most of the games will be at Anamax park, these teams will have the opportunity to travel and play other teams from Tucson and the surrounding areas.

Our core program is the foundation for all the fun, excitement and learning that happens on the fields. AYSO is best known for our core program – it’s where the large majority of kids fall in love with soccer and make memories that will last a lifetime.

There are six core values – or what we call AYSO’s Six Philosophies – that are the foundation of our core program, and all others: Everyone Plays, Balanced Teams, Open Registration, Positive Coaching, Good Sportsmanship and Player Development. These are the essence of AYSO and it all starts with Everyone Plays.

* Games are not played every week during the season.  See the calendar and schedule page for details on dates of training and games
** See Age Guidelines page for information on which division your child will be playing in.

AYSO All-Stars (Spring Select)

January - March

At the conclusion of our Fall rec season, all properly registered players, at divisions U10 and higher, that played in at least 50% of their primary season games are invited to try out for our Spring Select teams.  The top players in each division are evaluated by our coaching staff, and possibly be selected to participate on that team.  These All-Star teams participate in weekend tournaments against other AYSO All-Star and club teams.  The program is completely self-funded by the participants.  Teams are responsible for the cost of uniforms, practice field costs, equipment, travel expenses, and tournament entry fees.  The tournament season starts in January and is typically concluded by May.  Teams are required to participate in all local AYSO tournaments.
